Will America end up like Texas, where there's tons of job growth (that mostly gets taken up by non-residents)?

Hopefully not, especially since Texas's so-called "job growth" is based on the fact that Texas has a higher percentage of people working at or below the minimum wage of $7.25 than any other state in the union.
