Questions for those who live(d) in Japan?

I think #3 is still true but it is getting better. People still ask "Can you eat......" People still ume that if you are White that you speak English. However, some people do give me the benefit of the doubt and speak to me in Japanese. Maybe they don't know English. When I use chopsticks or speak in Japanese, I think people are happily surprised.
