Can a man seem "wussy" and not be gay? please don't judge me for asking...i think this guy is 100% awesome. ?

He's smart, funny and makes friends easily. he also is a little shy and reserved. and he admits to having trouble confronting manly-man types of guys, even ones in his employ. at first i thought he was gay. then not. now i don't care. i like what i've seen so far of the guy-at this point i'd like to be his friend. he's just awesome! i'm glad he's not the confrontational type, and yet i'm confused. why would a man this educated and in control of his life otherwise let the plumber walk all over him for days? and stew about it? then tell people about it? (not a shout out. just, i have to admit i've never met a straight guy so willing to admit men intimidate him.) is this just a thing guys have happen often but won't admit to, or am i letting the elephant of uality in the room-if an elephant is there that is-obscure my usually good woman's intuition? he doesn't appear spoken for and why that is, i don't know. cuz dam he's awesome!
