Why did a group of self-professed born again start giving me a cold shoulder after I said I will not convert>?

I am a Catholic but I allowed my friend to bring me to her non-denominational church. Soon my friend invited me to go to her place and join their meeting every Saturday and talk about their bible interpretations; all the while talking badly about the Catholicism and saying that all Catholics will go to hell because Catholicism is Satanism, even though they know I'm Catholic. I let their insults p because I thought it's their opinion and their beliefs and they have the right to that. I just thought that it would be nice to find something I and these born again people have in common but unfortunately, to my realization, they'd rather find lots of differences between me and them. When they finally said I should get baptized in their church I bluntly refused. I know it would come to that eventually but I was somehow hoping they wouldn't dare for the sake of friendship that we have, if we really have friendship, I'm not sure anymore. I thought they're going to take my refusal lightly but they seem to have taken it personally.
