What are the options (besides having a co-signer) for a credit challenged person to rent an apartment?

I'm a 23 year old student trying to rent an apartment, my rental history is good, I make 3 times the amount of rent needed, but they still require you to have some credit established, but I don't. Are there apartment locaters or anything that help credit challenged people? Is there anyway around this? I think it's just the city/area i'm trying to rent in.
